Addressing Gender Equality Requires a Holistic Approach
A holistic approach is urgently needed to address the gender equality and issues, and the urgent need to translate political momentum into policies and programs that can transform lives.
Gender equality is an Imperative
Gender equality is an imperative to create that better world that we’ve always envisaged. Reaching our ambitious aims for peace and prosperity requires that imperative.
A higher number of women in parliament is linked to greater investments and better outcomes in health, education and other social indicators. It is also linked to better and more transparent governance. We also know that women in positions of authority tend to resolve national crises without resorting to violence, and that peace lasts longer when women are at negotiating table.
Although women already face too many obstacles in everyday life, their voices are further suppressed, which makes it harder for them to overcome the gender gap.
